I am a model!

Okay, I am not really a model, but I think I am gorgeous! I had my one year pictures taken a JC Penney a few weeks ago. I was going for the pouty look. Actually, I did not mean to be so somber, but I was just so darn interested in all of the photographer's equipment.

It has been a good week, but I can feel the end of summer approaching. The mornings are cooler and mommy makes me wear pants and socks when we go for our early morning walk. I have been sleeping better these days. My teeth do not hurt me quite so bad right now.

Fun

It is pretty fun being a one-year old. These are some pictures taken of me yesterday. In the top picture, I had polished off some stromboli, pasta salad and a steamed red pepper. I liked to take the stromboli and the pasta and dip them into the tomatoe sauce. I wish I could dip all of my food into a yummy sauce. I know that I made a huge mess, but we were sitting outside on the deck, so mommy and daddy did not have too much to clean up. Unfortunately, I was dragged to the bath right after dinner.

In the bottom picture I am playing cars with daddy. I have a lot of fun crawling around on the floor pushing my cars around. Mommy thinks that it is interesting that I usually choose the "girl" car to play with. I just like that car because there is a bell in it that I can ring.

On another note...This was my weekend to really try-out temper tantrums in full force. I am becoming pretty good at whining and crying real tears to express my displeasure. I am now perfecting the technique of flopping onto the floor in a state of extreme unhappiness to further get my point across. I usually try these techniques first thing in the morning when mommy or daddy are bushing their teeth. Their tooth brushes look so interesting to me and I do not understand why they won't just hand them over to me to play with. I can tell that the tears rolling down my checks have an effect on them, but so far they are not parting with their tooth brushes.

Have a good week! I hope to post more pictures tomorrow.

The State Fair

I went to the Minnesota State Fair on Thursday. What an adventure! It was raining, so I was not sure if mommy and daddy were still going to want to go. But, lucky for me, they did. First, we took a bus ride down to the fair. I have only been on a bus a few times, and I love it. I love it mostly because I do not have to be confined to that horrible car seat. We met up with most of the Heffelbowers at the milk stand at the fair.

The first thing we did at the fair was to go into the Miracle of Birth barn. In that barn there are pregnant animals about to give birth, or newly birthed baby animals. The little baby ducklings were so yellow and cute. I have posted a picture of daddy, mommy and me at this barn with a mama cow and a baby cow in the background. By the way, when I saw the cow, I said "moo."

Next, we went to get some food. There is certainly no shortage of food at the fair. Daddy shared his Gyro sandwich with me. It was tasty. Daddy also got a deep-fried candy bar, but he would not share that one me. Instead, I got to eat an apple, which was surprisingly tasty and fun to munch on.

We walked and walked around the fair, looking at the people and sampling all of the delicious fair treats. One of my favorite things was when I did a kid's obstacle trail. One of the things I had to do was ride on a little tractor. I posted a picture of myself on it. It was a fun ride. I also had to pick a fake apple from a tree, feed a fake cow, and plant fake vegetables. At the end of it, I was given fake money to buy a little treat. I really lucked out because I was able to buy a little sheep stuffed animal! It is so cute with big buggy eyes and a squishy belly. Daddy was thrilled. Apparently, at last year's fair when I was only two weeks old and not allowed to go, daddy saw one of those sheep and tried to get me one, with no such luck. We were both thrilled when this year I was able to claim my sheepy prize.

At the end of the day, we went to the milk stand. You can get as much milk as you want for $1.00. Since milk is one of my staples, if worked out well for me. You can see my milk mustache if you look really closely in the picture with part of the Heffelbower gang.

The State Fair was great. I am so lucky to live in Minnesota. Maybe I will be a farmer...

Catching Up

I have some catching-up on my week to do! On Saturday, I was fortunate enough to go to the MOA (Mall of America for those of you who do not live in Minnesota). I went with mommy, daddy, Brett, Lindsay and Jeremy. That place is big. We walked around the mall for a long time. I went on the carousel at the amusement park at the mall. It was my first time on a ride. I think I enjoyed it. It was a little scary and strange, but overall a good time.

Mommy took me to the Como zoo this week. I think that my favorite animal this time was the sea lion. I liked how he would swim right under me.

Mommy does not want me to eat the flowers outside any more. I usually try to grab a few for a snack whenever I am outside. Instead of eating the flowers, mommy wants me to smell the flowers. But, I just do not get it. Here is what I do: I take a flower in my hand, bring it to my mouth and let it touch my lips (but not enter) and then I blow air through my nose really hard. I think that I am mimicking mommy, but I know that I am doing something wrong.

On Tuesday, Grandma, Grandpa and Lindsay came over to play with me while mommy ran some errands. It was a lot of fun. They thought it was really funny when I saw a reflection of myself in a metal cooking pot and I waived at myself. They are so easily entertained.

Today, mommy babysat my friend Dax, who is one-month younger than me. Dax did something really funny. We were standing right next to each other trying to play with the same activity table. Dax turned to me and we gazed into each other's eyes for quite some time. Then, Dax reached-out and stroked my check. If that was not enough, he started to gently tap his forehead against mine. My only conclusion is that he is in love with me.

I hope you enjoy the pictures. I am really enjoying my first full summer on this planet, as you can tell. In the top picture, I am making chalk art on the sidewalk with daddy. In the bottom picture, mommy is pushing me around south Minneapolis.

We are going to the State Fair tomorrow. I hope to have great stories and fabulous pictures to share.

A Week at Home

This week was one of sticking around the house, which is fine by me after all of the traveling that I have been doing. Grandma and Lindsay came over on Thursday and we listened to music and danced a lot. I also figured-out how to make Bun wave. I just have to lift his little arm and shake it for him! Bun likes to wave as much as I do.

I finally learned how to blow "raspberries" this week. Daddy always blows raspberries on my neck. It makes the silliest noise and I laugh and laugh. Yesterday, I did it back to daddy. Daddy could not stopping laughing and I could not believe the great sound that it made.

I am wearing a new dress in the pictures. It was a birthday present. I like the dress because the colors are so bright. It is a little long and, sometimes, my foot got caught in it today as I was moving around. In one of the pictures I am pointing-out my head---I am so smart!

We went out to dinner at the Boundary Waters restaurant in Marshall Fields in Edina. I had a great time throwing all of my food on the floor, including a half-eaten asparagus stalk. Mommy and daddy were too busy eating to notice, but I made a huge mess. I hope they left a good tip for the waitress.

Doctor's Appointment

Okay....so I still do not feel well rested, but I cannot disappoint my blog fans. First, let me finish telling you about my Wisconsin trip. After we left Door County, daddy went home to Minneapolis and mommy and I went to Grandma and Grandpa's house in Green Bay. They have a great big living room and I ran around and around it. I also played a fun game where I took dominos in and out of a box. We went to the Wild Life Sanctuary and geese ate corn right out of my hands! It was a little scary, but exciting too. The geese and ducks surrounded us as we fed them. I do not think that I have ever been that close to birds. Speaking of birds, in Door County mommy and daddy bought a little stuffed blue jay for me. It even makes a real blue jay sound. I absolutely love it! It almost rivals Bun (Sorry, Bun). We did so many fun things in Green Bay. I cannot wait to go back.

Today, however, was not so much fun. I had my one-year doctor's appointment. At first, things were going great. I played with some toys in the waiting room. Then, a nice lady weighed me on a scale. I am now a hefty 21 pounds. That puts me squarely in the 50th percentile. But, I am a tall one! I am 30 inches, which is the 80th percentile. I also have a big noggan--47 cm (95th percentile). Enough with my stats. I am starting to feel like a football player.

After I was weighed, I ran around the room waiting for the doctor. I banged on the door a few times, but it did get a little boring in there. After awhile the doctor came. She was really nice and let me play with her doctor's equipment. She said that I am a picture of health. Phew.. that is a load off of my mind. Dr. Daniels left and then the fun abruptly ended.

Next, a-not-so-nice lady came into the room. First, she pricked my finger for blood. It did not hurt super bad, but it did not feel good either. I certainly would not call it a good time. I did not cry, but I got a big frown on my face and sniffled a bit. I was so happy when that was over, but little did I know that the torture was just beginning. Next, the mean lady took out a needle and (you are not even going to believe this) she jabbed it into my leg! I screamed (of course). And then (you are really not going to believe this) she did it two more times in my arms! I screamed louder each time until I reached a screaming crescendo that even surprised myself. I calmed down pretty quick, though, when mommy gave me a graham cracker. I really do feel fine now, but I am glad those shots are over. You can see one of my pink band-aids on my arm in the picture where I am digging through mommy's purse. By the time that picture was taken, I had pulled off and attempted to eat the other band-aids.

Anyway, I best be getting to bed. I am having trouble sleeping these days with my molars coming in.

'til 'morrow.

Door County

Door County was a blast! But, I am too tired to talk about it. I posted a few pictures and will write more later. The top picture is one of mommy and me in in the pool at our condo. You know how much I love to swim. The second picture is at the famous "Al Johnson's" in Sister Bay. It is a Swedish restaurant with goats on the grass roof! It is quite the sight. The next picture is Grandma, great-auntie Cathy and me sitting on the swing in front of the condo. It was just delightful sitting there soaking in the warm weather and the peaceful surroundings.

I need to catch-up on my sleep. I will write more later.

Fond du Lac

This is part one of my vacation. For the first two days of I was in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. We celebrated Father Billy's fifty year anniversary of being a capuchin priest. Father Billy is the guy who married my parents. He is also the younger brother of Tony Frigo, my Great Grandfather. I usually hear of him referred to as "Uncle Billy", so that's what I call him (if I could talk).

Father Billy gave a mass to celebrate his anniversary. It was a lovely mass. Afterwards, people said to me: "Sophia, you're such a quiet little girl. I didn't hear a peep out of you." Little did they know that I spent the entire mass outdoors, playing in the grass with Daddy, Grandpa, and Auntie Katie. Trust me, I cannot sit through an entire mass. I make a point of sitting still as little as possible.

The celebration also served as a family reunion for the Frigos. There were over 200 Frigo relatives at the jubilee. I even met a 10 month old girl named Sofia. I learned a lot about my Frigo ancestors who immigrated from Italy. Many of them were cheese makers. (Funny that they should end up in Wisconsin.)

I had a truly wonderful time in Fond du Lac. It's nice to know that I am part of such a warm and friendly family. I can't wait to see them all again.

Tomorrow I will tell you about my adventures in Door County, Wisconsin.

Door County

I'm finally back from the family reunion in Door County Wisconsin. I can't even begin to tell you how much fun I had. I met so many nice people, and I had a blast every day.

I traveled a lot today, and I'm very tired. But I promise to tell you all about my trip over the next few days.

I am Learning a Lot

Today it was finally cool enough to spend some time outside. I went on two walks and drew on the sidewalk with chalk.

I am really starting to get a hang of talking. Here are the words that I can say:

Mama and dada.

Here are the words that I can kind of say:

Birds (bur)
Door (Doo)
Dog (Dahhh)

Here is what I wish I could say:

"Mummy, would you please pass me some more of that delicious watermelon and stop hogging it all for yourself."

I do have a few other crowd-pleasing party tricks. When someone says,"Where is your head?" I usually point to the top of my head. When someone says, "Where is the fan?" I usually point to the ceiling fan, and I will spin my finger round and round if someone says "What does a fan do?." When someone says, "Where is Bun?" I search for my trusted friend Bun. When someone says, "What does a cow say?" I say, "mboo, mboo, mboo." I laugh when I burp, fart, or sneeze. I really have so many tricks, but these are all I can remember right now.

Ciao.

Block Party

It was our block party tonight. It rained. All of the grown-ups seemed to mind, but I didn't. The street was blocked-off, so I got to splash in all of the rain in the gutters in the street. And, I got to eat lots of watermelon. It was the best block party ever.

Today, I also danced. I really love to dance. Usually, we listen to Raffi or classical music, but sometimes I am lucky enough to get a little Hip Hop. When I hear that beat, I just cannot help but bump and grind my big ol' diaper butt. If I do say so myself---I have the moves.

Peace out.
