Its Potty Time!

It has been quite a long process, but I am pretty much potty trained! I am so proud of myself. I wear my cute Elmo or Hello Kitty underwear everyday. When I need to go pee, I tell mommy or daddy and I go pee on the potty insert put onto the big potty. When I go potty, I get special treats. In this picture, I am holding a huge sucker that I got for going potty. Mommy and daddy also got me a special pooping pal named "Brownie the Dog." I really like wearing diapers, but I feel really happy and free in my unders!

Juliet is Doing Some New Things

Here are a few of the new things that Juliet is doing:
1. Rolling over. She gets really excited when she does it.
2. Sleeping for an 8 hour stretch at night (sometimes).
3. Making big belly laughs---but only daddy with his silly faces can make her laugh like that.
4. Babbling on and on. Juliet and I have a game where she will babble something, I will babble back and then we both laugh. We can play that game for a long time.

Spring Has Arrived!

You know its Spring, when you get to look at bugs outside with the neighbor kids.

You know its Spring, when you get to hold flowers from the garden while wearing your turtle tank-top.

You know its Spring, when you get to smell so many flowers that your face turns yellow with pollen!

Every season is perfect for a silly face.

(P.S. Mommy is still using the old camera. She has not had the chance to try out the new one.)

Teacher Emily and Teacher Sondra

For the past year, I have been going to daycare on Tuesday mornings at the Edina Family Center. Teacher Emily and assistant teacher Sondra have taken good care of me. They are both actresses by night and were really fun, funny and dramatic. Today was my last day of Teacher Emily's classroom. Mommy asked me if I was sad. I said that I was not sad because then I would get to stay at home with mommy. But, really, I will be a little sad. Teacher Emily taught me a lot of really fun things. She told me once that I had "sassy hair," which is now a phrase I use frequently. Teacher Sondra read me the "Opps" book, which is Sandra Boyton's book "Red Hat, Green Hat." I talked about the "Opps" book for days until mommy asked Teacher Sondra what book it was and purchased it. I was often a little sad when mommy dropped me off at Teacher Emily's classroom, but I would often not want to leave when mommy picked me up after lunch. Since I will be turning 3 this summer, I will be too old to go into Teacher Emily's classroom in the fall. Thanks Teachers Emily and Sondra for being so special!

A day with the camera

So....we bought mommy a new digital camera for mother's day. The old camera has not been working very well because I accidentally scratched the lense and dropped it, etc. Plus, the new camera has twice as many megapixals as the old. Look forward to better quality pictures coming soon. Because of mommy's new camera, I got to play with the old camera today. I took pictures of a lot of fun things today. Mommy was not entirely paying attention to all of the pictures I was taking. She thought it was hilarious that I took 15 pictures of Bunny Bun. Here is a sampling of the pictures that I took (all by myself) today.

Juliet is 3 months old!

My little sister is a little over three months old. She is turning out to be a pretty fun little bugger. She does not fuss as much when mommy puts her in the bouncy seat or lays her on the floor with some toys. This has been fantastic for me, because mommy is then free to play fun games with me. Mommy and daddy have both been really happy these days, too, because Juliet is have more consistently going to bed earlier (8:00) rather than staying up super late. I also know that Juliet really loves me. If I am in the room, Juliet will strain her neck to see me. She always smiles at me. Sometimes, I will get such an overwhelming urge to kiss her little head with the fluffy brown hair sticking up everywhere. I also tell my friends when they want to look at Juliet that she is "fragile" and to "be gentle."

Little Experiment

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you put 1/4 of a box of baking soda into buttermilk biscuits? Well, wonder no more!

Today, mommy and I decided to make buttermilk biscuits while Juliet was napping. I was in charge of stirring and licking. Mommy was busy getting ingredients, reading the recipe and putting things away. After all of the ingredients were in, she took a lick. Mommy said, "Wow. This tastes really strange and salty." She looked at the recipe again. Then, she took another bite of the dough. Then, she looked at the recipe again.

Mommy held up the salt and said, "Sophia, did you put some salt into the dough?" "No." Mommy looked puzzled and began cleaning up. Mommy then held up the baking powder and said, "Sophia, did you put some baking powder in the dough?" "No."

Mommy took another taste. "Sophia," she said holding up the baking soda, "Did you put some baking soda into the dough?" "Yes." Mommy looked into the baking soda box and saw that I had put lots of it into the dough when she was not looking. I kept licking the dough, even though it tasted really yucky. Mommy made the biscuits anyway, as a little experiment. As to be expected, they were not good at all and looked really funny. I blame mommy for this little fiasco because she was not doing a very good job of watching me!
