Little Experiment

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you put 1/4 of a box of baking soda into buttermilk biscuits? Well, wonder no more!

Today, mommy and I decided to make buttermilk biscuits while Juliet was napping. I was in charge of stirring and licking. Mommy was busy getting ingredients, reading the recipe and putting things away. After all of the ingredients were in, she took a lick. Mommy said, "Wow. This tastes really strange and salty." She looked at the recipe again. Then, she took another bite of the dough. Then, she looked at the recipe again.

Mommy held up the salt and said, "Sophia, did you put some salt into the dough?" "No." Mommy looked puzzled and began cleaning up. Mommy then held up the baking powder and said, "Sophia, did you put some baking powder in the dough?" "No."

Mommy took another taste. "Sophia," she said holding up the baking soda, "Did you put some baking soda into the dough?" "Yes." Mommy looked into the baking soda box and saw that I had put lots of it into the dough when she was not looking. I kept licking the dough, even though it tasted really yucky. Mommy made the biscuits anyway, as a little experiment. As to be expected, they were not good at all and looked really funny. I blame mommy for this little fiasco because she was not doing a very good job of watching me!
